Scythe Mugen 6 CPU Cooler Review

Final Thoughts on the Scythe Mugen 6

It seems with every Scythe CPU cooler we take a look at we are impressed and the Mugen 6 is no different. When it comes to performance this cooler sits in the higher-end of our massive test group of coolers, which is quite impressive as it is only a single-tower, single-fan cooler. Being a single-fan cooler means that it is also going to be very quiet and it is actually in a 3-way tie with two other coolers for the best noise performance.

When it comes to installation getting the Mugen 6 installed shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes and you can totally install the CPU cooler with your motherboard mounted inside your case. If you are a novice, the included instructions are very easy to follow. Talking about installation even with the fan installed you will not cover your memory so if you did happen to have RGB memory it is not going to be covered up by the cooler.

If there is anything to not like about the Mugen 6 is that it is a pretty plain looking cooler. Even their Fuma 3, which we took a look at last year has some pretty stylish top caps on it, but here we have just a normal top heatsink fin really with a simple Scythe logo. And in the world of RGB, both the fan and cooler itself have no lighting. So if you are looking for a more flashy CPU cooler this might not be for you.

We’ve seen high-end air coolers get decently expensive over the past few years, but the Mugen 6 is currently selling for $36.99, which more or less makes it the best price-to-performance cooler that we’ve tested all year! I mean you can buy two and in some cases three of these coolers instead of one of the few air coolers that beat it (by only a few degrees) in our testing. With its price and performance you really can’t go wrong with this cooler! Overall ThinkComputers gives the Scythe Mugen 6 CPU Cooler a 9 out of 10 score and our Good Value Award!
