HYTE THICC Q60 Liquid CPU Cooler Review

HYTE THICC Q60 HYTE THICC Q60

The all-in-one CPU liquid cooler has been around for over a decade, and over those years we have seen innovative changes related to both form and function from a variety of companies. This spans the gamut of RGB lighting, pump-housing fans, LCD screens, cable-less designs, and more. This time around, we have a cooler that has taken things to another level, both performance, and design-related. The HYTE THICC Q60 really shakes things up, which might sound a bit surprising coming from a 240mm AIO. But if you know anything about HYTE, they like to shake things up, and so far it has turned out quite well for them. With the largest LCD screen we have seen on an AIO, to the THICC (Technology Harnessing Innovative Chonk for Cooling) radiator, dual pumps, and more, the Q60 is poised to be a dominant force. Follow along as we take a look at this unique CPU cooler.

Packaging

Right out of the gates, HYTE has done something different with the Q60. The exterior box features a psychedelic color swirl design, with the THICC branding on the front. You won’t find any indication of what is in side the box here.

Around back there is an image of the cooler, along with some call-outs to features, package contents, specifications, and a little marketing material.

With the lid opened, you will probably start to realize that there is a new fresh scent in your environment. That is because HYTE has outfitted the box with a small aroma pad to add to the unboxing experience. A cool touch, but surely one that adds to the cost of the overall package. In order to get to the cooler, you must first rip through a paper seal on the molded cardboard shell that sits inside the box. This is another cool unboxing feature, but again, one that probably adds some cost to the cooler. The molded cardboard shell inside the box has been designed to keep the components in place and protected, and that seems to be the end result.

An additional layer of protection, in the form of a cardstock sleeve, was present on the radiator and pre-attached fans. This is a nice touch, as it is never fun to unpack your brand new AIO just to find damaged radiator fins.

Accessories

Included with the THICC Q60 is a physical installation guide, as well as a pouch that contains all of the required mounting hardware for a variety of the most common current platforms from AMD and Intel. HYTE does offer additional mounting hardware options for platforms like Intel’s Socket 2011 and 2066, as well as AMD’s TR4.

In addition to the mounting hardware, there is a breakout cable that connects the Q60 to your system. HYTE designed the Q60, and many of their new PC components, with a mostly cable-less design. This dual-USB Type-C cable attaches to the side of the radiator housing, and breaks out into a USB 2.0 plug, 4-pin PWM plug, and a 6-pin PCIe power plug. I will cover this cable in more detail later on in this review.
