Ray Tracing & FSR Testing
The Radeon RX 7900 GRE features 80 ray processors as well as 320 AI/Tensor processors. So you will be able to enable things like real-time ray tracing and FSR. To test this we first run 3DMark’s Port Royal benchmark.
Moving on to games we decided to turn RTX on in both Cyberpunk 2077 and Far Cry 6. In Cyberpunk 2077 we set the resolution to 4K and enable all RTX features and set the quality slider to medium. For reference the 7900 GRE scores 43.89 FPS normally in this test without any RT features.
In Far Cry 6 we enabled all RT features and again are testing at 4K resolution. Without the RT features the 7900 GRE scores 94 FPS normally.
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) is a great technology and one that you should really take advantage of if a game you play supports it. Basically it renders the game at a lower resolution and then up-scales it to the resolution that you are running. While AMD recently released FSR 3.0 there are currently only a few games that support it. Many games however will support AMD FSR 1.0 and AMD FSR 2.0. To give you an idea of what FSR can do for you we ran 3DMark’s FSR feature test.
This feature test uses FSR 2.0 and at 4K we can see that without FSR you would get 70.65 FPS and with it enabled you get 138.94 FPS, a nice improvement!
