Ray Tracing & FSR
AMD is on their second generation of their Ray Accelerators. These will provide a 80% ray tracing performance uplift over the previous generation. To test this we first run 3DMark’s Port Royal benchmark.
Moving on to games we decided to turn ray tracing on in both Cyberpunk 2077 and Far Cry 6. In Cyberpunk 2077 we enable all RT features and set the quality slider to medium. In Far Cry 6 we enabled all RT features. Keep in mind that our non-RTX scores for those are:
Cyberpunk 4K: 32.03
Far Cry 6 4K: 45
AMD’s answer to DLSS is their FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR). With the 7600 XT we get FSR3, although the 3DMark AMD FSR feature test only supports FSR 2.0. Even so we went ahead and ran it to see what FSR could do for you.
As you can see without FSR2 enabled we get an average FPS of 34.15, but with FSR2 enabled we get an average FPS of 68.89, which is a 101.1% performance uplift. This technology definitely enables gaming at higher resolutions.
