Final Thoughts
Lexar has really seemed to impress with the high performance memory since they sent us a DDR4 kit. With DDR5 they were not ready with their ARES RGB kits, so we just ended up getting normal ARES DDR5. Now you can get RGB versions of their ARES memory, and these kits run at faster speeds. The kit we took a look at today is their 32GB (2x16GB) kit running at 6000 MHz with timings of 34-38-38-76 at 1.3V. They will also have 32GB (2x16GB) kit running at 56 MHz with timings of 32-36-36-68 at 1.2V.
It is still unclear if Lexar will be offering these kits in white versions, but I do think the gunmetal heatspreader on these kits look good and will be easy to match up with most motherboards. As far as the RGB lighting is concerned Lexar has done a great job with the diffuser which makes the RGB LEDs that sit below look like a single light bar. It is also nice that Lexar does have their own RGB software if you don’t want to use your motherboard’s RGB software.
Lexar’s original ARES DDR5 was not all that impressive. It only ran at 5200 MHz and we actually weren’t able to overclock it at all. This kit while running at 6000 MHz, we were able to overclock it to 6400 MHz all while just upping the voltage. We were able to still keep the same timings and everything, which is pretty impressive considering the performance we saw from their original DDR5 kit.
Right now this kit is selling at our favorite online retailer for $149.99, which makes it competitive against similar kits from Corsair, Kingston, and G.Skill. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Lexar ARES RGB DDR5-6000 Memory Kit a 9 out of 10 score.
