Back in 2020 we took a look at the SK hynix Gold P31 Gen3 NVMe solid state drive and were so impressed with its value and performance we gave it a 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award! SK hynix hopes to continue that trend of a great price and performance with their brand new Platinum P41 drive. This is a PCI-Express 4.0 drive that makes use of their new Aries controller teamed with 176-Layer TLC flash that will give you sequential read and write speeds of up to 7000 MB/s and 6500 MB/s respectively. Is this going to be the Gen4 drive to get in 2020? Read on as we find out!
Special thanks to SK hynix for providing us with the Platinum P41 Gen4 NVMe Solid State Drive to review.
Specifications
Packaging
The Platinum P41 comes in a small retail box that has a Platinum gem on the front and lets us know the capacity, which is 2TB. SK hynix will also offer this drive in 1TB and 500 GB versions.
Flipping over to the back we really don’t have that much, but we can see that SK hynix does give the drive a 5-year warranty.
Opening the box up and getting everything out we have the Platinum P41 drive, a user’s guide, and information on the warranty.
