Final Thoughts
So Corsair has rolled out the RMx series, which I guess you can say sits between Corsair’s RM and RMi series units. With the RMx Series Corsair brings you 80PLUS Gold certified efficiency, 100% Japanese capacitors, a 135 mm rifle bearing fan with a Zero RPM mode, and a 7 year warranty. If you look at the RM Series it only have a 5-year warranty, only the primary capacitors are Japanese, and the RM series lacks a 550W unit. The RM series however does have basic (fan speed / +12V load) Corsair Link support, whereas the RMx series lacks any Corsair Link support. I think there is a good tradeoff here with better components and a better warranty.
Looking at the performance of the unit, again we were not able to test with a proper load testing but in our multimeter testing and testing using recording software the rails were very stable and there was not much voltage fluctuation at all. Corsair has put a custom NR135L fan that is designed for high static pressure in order to efficiently push air through the PSU components. This fan is extremely quiet and has a Zero RPM mode, which means that the fan will not turn on during idle or a low-load state.
This unit has that typical Corsair power supply look to it so nothing flashy or out of the ordinary. All RMx series power supplies are fully modular which means you only use the cables that you need, which makes for less cable mess. Also the flat cable design of the cables makes them easy to work with.
The RMx series is comprised of 550W, 650W, 750W, 850W, and 1000W units so there is a model in there for everyone’s needs. The 750W that we reviewed today has an MSRP of $129.99.
