Vertical small form factor cases are nothing new, Phanteks was one of the first to release a vertical small form factor case when they put out the Evolv Shift 2 back in 2017. Since then vertical small form factor cases have become increasingly popular. They allow you to build a very small system, which ends up sort of looking like a console except it is loaded with some pretty awesome hardware. Today Phanteks is releasing the Evolv Shift 2, which is a reimagining of the original with some nice upgrades all in a 22L chassis. Let’s see what it is all about!
Special thanks to Phanteks for providing us with the Evolv Shift 2 Case to review.
Specifications
Packaging
The Evolv Shift 2 comes in a box that is not much larger than the case itself. It just simply says “Evolv Shift 2” on both of the main sides. There is no list of specifications or anything like that on the box itself.
Opening the box up we find our instructions right on top and the case is protected by styrofoam and a plastic bag.
As far as what comes with the case you get all of your mounting hardware inside a nice organizer, zip ties, a cable cover, and the user’s manual.
Upon initial inspection of the case we did notice a small chip in one of the glass panels. This was weird as the box seemed to be in good shape.
