Intel Core i9-11900K Processor Review

The Core i9-11900K is an 8-core, 16-thread processor, while its predecessor the Core i9-109000K was a 10-core, 20-thread part. This is mainly because of the new Cypress Cove CPU cores and new Gen12 Xe iGPU on the chip. There just was not enough room on the chip to add more cores and it is really surprising that Intel is still stuck on 14nm.

AMD has really focused on single-core and gaming performance with the 5000 series of processors. That means that this processor not only can compete against Intel in gaming performance, but also in multi-core workloads. At $449 this processor is great for those who want a little more than the $299 6-core, 12-thread 5600X offers, but didn't want to take the plunge into the $549 12-core, 24-thread 5900X. AMD’s Ryzen 5000 Series is officially launching today! If you haven’t already seen our review of the Ryzen 9 5900X be sure to check it out! In this review we will be taking a look at the mid-range Ryzen 5 5600X. This chip is really exciting to me as it is effectively replacing the Ryzen 3 3600X which was an excellent mid-range processor and one that I recommended to many people. The Ryzen 5 5600X is a 6-core, 12-thread processor with a base clock of 3.7 GHz and boost clock of 4.6 GHz. AMD is calling this processor the definitive choice for gamers who just want to game and at $299 we’ll see if it makes a good argument for that!
