Just when we thought they might not be listening, Corsair has gone and done it again. We asked for RGB, they added it to the pump. We said that’s nice, but there could be more, why not the fans? Time goes by and we start to wonder, perhaps they just aren’t interested in going that route when out of nowhere Corsair delivers once again with their newest cooler in the H series; the H115i RGB Platinum. This 280mm cooler now comes equipped with an upgraded pump sporting addressable RGB lighting, and ups the ante with a pair of 140mm addressable RGB fans. It really seems to be the H115i Pro that we know and love hopped up on colorful ARGB steroids. While they aren’t the first to the party they are doing it in their own style and things look really good from first glance. Better lighting, better materials, better design; we can’t wait to get this thing in the lab and check it out.
Special Thanks to Corsair for providing the H115i RGB Platinum for review!
Packaging
The H115i RGB Platinum will thud to a stop on your doorstep wrapped in cellophane and sporting a moody but colorful motif. If you’re familiar with any of Corsairs previous box art you’ll definitely recognize the feel, but the Platinum version has been updated and we appreciate the refreshed theme. The front of the box has a nice big photo of the cooler itself in all it’s ARGB glory. Arranged around it are different labels and key points that Corsair feels you need to see. Flip to the back and you’ll find nice write ups detailing the different key features in 5 languages as well as a nice but simple technical drawing of the cooler. The right hand side is where you’ll find the specifications the same as we have listed above.
Give that box another spin and you’ll find that side is dedicated entirely to explaining iCue, Corsairs newest hardware monitoring software. It’s an aggregate program that brings all your PCs various sensor data to one place and displays it for you nicely. It is also where you’ll find pump, fan, and LED control for this cooler. One last long side has the socket and CPU compatibility information as well the system requirements on the left. To the right is a listing of what’s included in the box. Both ends have a small photo of the cooler, labels, and main features. Overall a very nicely designed box, combining modern elements and color ways to create a pleasing delivery mechanism for your cooler.
Flipping back the box top you will find three pieces of literature laying on top of a sheet of foam padding; the installation and warranty information. Most all AiOs feature this sheet of foam in their packaging to protect the hardware from breaking out of the top of the box during transit. What’s different here is that you’ll find this sheet to be twice as thick as most if not all others. Corsair is really going the extra mile to ensure your unit arrives without issue.
Beneath the foam are the various components nestled in a molded cardboard container. Most everything is wrapped in plastic or foam and appears to have arrived in excellent condition.
