Setting Deco Up
Getting Deco setup is extremely easy, even if you aren’t very tech savvy. The first thing you are going to want to do is pick spots for each Deco unit. The first placement should be just to your cable modem or router as you’ll need to use the included Ethernet cable to provide internet access to Deco. It is best to place each Deco unit in different rooms, for me I placed the main one in my office, another in my bedroom, and the third in my kitchen. Once you plug each unit into power they will be ready to setup.
To begin setup you’ll need to download the TP-Link Deco app from either the iOS App store or the Google Play store. Now be sure you are in the room of the Deco with Internet access and go ahead and open the app. Once you create an account in the app you can start setting Deco up. The first few screens will guide your through placing and powering on your Deco unit.
Once you’ve told the app that the LED on your Deco unit is pulsing blue then it will search for the unit via Bluetooth, this is why I said be in the same room as the unit you are configuring. Once it has found the unit it will ask where you have placed it, you can select one of the pre-made locations or add your own. It will then connect to the internet and then ask you to create your WiFi network by entering a Network Name and Password. Once that is created your main setup is complete, but you do have the option to add more Deco units.
Adding another Deco unit is very easy and the app walks you right through the process. Just be in the same room and follow the prompts. Then repeat for the third unit as well.
Getting the Deco all setup was one of the easiest things I’ve done. Now don’t think that’s all you can do is setup your WiFi, check out the next page as we dive in to the Deco app!
