We all know the name HP (Hewlett Packard), but we really don’t think of them when it comes to high performance products, we mainly know them for laptops and printers. Over the past year HP has worked with Chinese OEM supplier BIWIN Storage to bring out high performance storage and memory products under the HP name. We were very impressed with their SSD EX950 as well as their V6 DDR4 Memory Kit. Today we are taking a look at the HP P700 which is a USB 3.2 gen 2 portable solid state drive. I love little drives like this because of how small and portable they are and we can’t forget how fast they are too! HP rates this drive with transfer speed of 1000 MB/s. Let’s take it for a spin and see what it can do!
Special thanks to HP for providing us with the P700 Portable Solid State Drive to review.
Specifications
Packaging
The HP P700 comes in a nice retail package. On the front there is a small window so you can see what the drive looks like and there is a sticker letting us know the capacity, which is 1TB. HP offers the drive in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB versions.
Flipping the box over to the back there is a disclaimer and warranty information in a handful of different languages.
Opening the box up and getting everything out we have the P700 drive, a little holder that has a your Type-C to Type-A cable, and a Type-A to Type-C adapter, and you also have a quick start guide.
The cable holder is actually pretty cool as it is magnetized and basically sticks to the bottom of the drive so you never forget your cable or adapter. Although if you plan to use the drive this way it does add some extra bulk to it.
