When it comes to high-end CPU coolers Scythe is always in the mix, more specifically their Mugen 5 cooler. Back in 2017 we took a look at the original Mugen 5 and it received a 9 out of 10 score and our Good Value award. Well Scythe is back with Rev. C of their iconic cooler. You are still going to get that single-tower design with six copper heatpipes, but now you get an upgraded Kaze Flex II PWM fan that spins up to 1500 RPM and a new mounting system that supports the latest sockets. How will this cooler perform compared to some of the latest coolers we’ve tested? Read on as we find out!
Special thanks to Scythe for providing us with the Mugen 5 Rev. C CPU Cooler to review.
Specifications
Packaging
The Mugen 5 Rev. C comes in Scythe’s typical retail packaging, which is loaded with information. On the front we have a picture of the cooler and it does let us know it is compatible with Intel’s LGA 1700 socket. On one side we have a full list of specifications as well as dimensions of not only the cooler, but the fan as well. On the other side some of the main features are detailed. Finally flipping over to the back there is some information on the warranty, which is 2 years.
Getting everything out of the box we have the Mugen 5 Rev. C heatsink, Kaze Flex II PWM fan, mounting hardware, thermal paste, a screwdriver, and a user’s guide.
