Western Digital has unveiled the PC SN5000S NVMe solid-state drive, targeting OEM manufacturers. This SSD employs BICS6 162-layer QLC flash memory tech, boasts a PCIe Gen4x4 interface, and is compliant with the NVMe 2.0 protocol. It incorporates a Western Digital-designed controller and comes with configuration choices in M.2 2280 and 2230 form factors. It is available in capacities of 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB.
It also integrates nCache 4.0 technology, facilitating dynamic SLC caching for enhanced performance. The peak sequential read speed remains consistent across all three versions at 6000MB/s, while the sequential write speeds differ according to capacity: 4200MB/s for the 512GB variant, 5400MB/s for the 1TB variant, and 5600MB/s for the 2TB variant.
In terms of input/output operations per second (IOPS), the 512GB edition achieves up to 500K for reads and 850K for writes, while both the 1TB and 2TB editions reach up to 750K for reads and 900K for writes. Western Digital provides a 5-year warranty for this product line, with endurance ratings of 150TB for the 512GB variant, 300TB for the 1TB variant, and 600TB for the 2TB variant, translating to a warranty of 300TB of writes per terabyte of capacity.
