SSD Performance on the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD OC Edition

I decided to install the Crucial T700 in the Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD OC Edition. This of course is a Gen5 drive and has rated speeds of 12.4 GB/s read and 11.8 GB/s write. Running CrystalDiskMark we can see the drive performs right up to those specifications.

Another thing I wanted to look at was the temperature of the drive. In our initial review of the T700 even the heatsink version of the drive would actually overheat and thermally throttle. In our testing here we saw it max out at 56C, which is nowhere near close to thermal throttling temperatures. This obviously has a lot to do with how the M.2 slot is designed and how you have a massive heatsink + fans to dissipate the heat generated by the controller on the SSD.

Now we have covered the RTX 4060 Ti extensively when it was released last year so for performance testing here we are only going to be running gaming tests here. We run Borderlands 3, Cyberpunk 2077, F1 22, Far Cry 6, Metro Exodus, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Watch Dogs: Legion without any DLSS or other software enhancements.

Here is the average FPS performance for those games at 1080p.
