ASUS ROG Delta II Overview
When I first took a look at the ROG Delta II headset I thought to myself here is another big and bulky gaming headset, but I was actually surprised when I picked it up at how light it actually was. The headset weighs in at 318g which is actually pretty light at something like the new Razer Kraken V4 is 350g. The headset itself has the all black looks with metallic gray accents on the metal pieces that attach the earcups to the headband.
Talking about the headband it says Republic of Gamers on the top and offers some cushioning on the bottom. I think the lack of overall cushioning on the headband is because it is not needed because of how light the actual headset is. Also the headband is quite flexible as I am able to bend it quite easily.
The headband is adjustable and there are markings on each side so you can set it just right.
The earcups have a sort of triangle shape, which is definitely not a traditional design. Typically we see a circle or oval. On each ear cup is an ROG logo that will light up with RGB lighting (don’t worry you can turn it off). The earcups do have a lay-flat design which will make packing this headset up quite easy and allows you to rest the headset on shoulders without it being uncomfortable.
The earcups themselves are designed to fully encapsulate your ears and in my opinion this is the best for gaming as it really does give you full sound isolation from the outside world. The ear cups are labeled with an ROG logo for the left and a large “R” for the right. The earcups are powered by 50 mm titanium-plated diaphragm drivers. As I mentioned the headset comes with the ROG leather ear cushions installed, but you also get a set of ROG hybrid fabric ear cushions so you can choose which one will work best for you. Both ear cushions are thick and very comfortable.
All of your controls will be found on either earcup. On the left you are going to find a audio control wheel for the 2.4 GHz connection, function button for the 2.4 GHz connection, a power switch for 2.4 GHz, as well as a USB-C connection, and microphone connector. The audio control wheel is a typical wheel that allows you to turn the volume up and down, but if you press it, it will mute / unmute the microphone. The function allows your to easily play / pause music (one press), play next (two presses), play previous (three presses), and even toggle the RGB lighting on and off (press + hold for 5 seconds). You can also factory reset the headset by pressing it and holding for 15 seconds. On the other side you have an audio control wheel and power / function button for Bluetooth. Remember this headset can simultaneously play audio from both a 2.4 GHz audio source as well as Bluetooth, more on that in a bit. The power / function button can be used to pair your bluetooth device, play / pause, go to the previous or next track as well as answer or reject calls. There is also a 3.5mm jack on this side of the headset, you can use this headset as a wired headset this way.
The included microphone easily plugs into the headset and the connector has a certain shape to it so you can only plug in the microphone the correct way. The included microphone is a 10 mm super-wideband microphone and has a built-in red LED that will let you know when the microphone is muted. The microphone is also fully adjustable so you can move it closer or further away depending on what works best for you.
