Gigabyte AORUS CO49DQ Overview
Taking a first look at the display I have to say it is HUGE! The official dimensions with the stand are 1194.78mm x 558.80mm x 261.52 mm so you are going to want to make sure you have ample room on your desk for this monitor.
For those who plan to mount this monitor on a VESA mount or monitor arm the screen itself weighs in at 18.36 lbs. I had no issues getting this monitor mounted on a Pixio PS2 Titan monitor arm. As I mentioned this is a QD-OLED panel which has a Dual QHD (5120 x 1440) resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time, a DisplayHDR True Black 400 rating, and a ClearMR 8000 rating. The panel does have a glossy finish
If you plan to use the included stand it is a V-style stand, which I am not the biggest fan of. These take up a considerable amount of real-estate on your desk, especially if you are a large desk pad person. In the center of the stand is an AORUS logo and we can see some cable management built into the stand itself.
The stand itself allows you to adjust the height of the monitor, tilt it up and down, and swivel it left or right.
This is a curved monitor with an 1800R curve. I really prefer curved monitors if you are going over 32-inches. It just makes productivity and multitasking so much easier as you are not moving your head left or right as much.
The back of the monitor is honestly pretty plain and also no massive heatsink. That is why this monitor is not all that heavy for being 49-inches wide. On the bottom-edge of the monitor you will find all of your connections as well as the control joystick. On one side you have two HDMI 2.1 ports, a single DisplayPort 1.4 port, USB-C, a USB-B upstream port, and two USB 3.0 downstream ports. Having HDMI 2.1 means that you can connect a PlayStation 5 or XBOX Series X and enjoy 120 Hz gameplay. The Type-C supports alternate mode, as well as 18W power delivery. On the opposite side you have your power connection which is a standard power connection. The control joystick sits right in the middle of the monitor under the AORUS logo. I really like having a single joystick multiple buttons to access the OSD.
