Final Thoughts on the AORUS CO49DQ

So like I said at the beginning of this review the AORUS CO49DQ has been my daily driver for about the past month now. It was an upgrade to my older Viotek SUW49DA, which was also a 49-inch super-ultrawide, but of course that display was not OLED.

And I think that is the big thing here, as I mentioned earlier in this review if you are going to be buying a gaming monitor these days it really should be an OLED. Your gaming experience is going to be so elevated with the vibrant colors and deep blacks. It really is like two different worlds gaming on a non-OLED display and then moving to an OLED. Also if you are someone who plays racing games or SIM-type games you are really going to enjoy the 32:9 aspect ratio that makes those games so immersive.

For me this monitor really gives me the best of both worlds. Most of my time on my computer is spent working. So I get this massive single screen which is excellent for productivity, multi-tasking, and especially video editing. On top of that I still have a 144 Hz refresh rate, which for me is great for the games and skill level that I play at. On top of that this monitor has the built-in KVM as well as the Type-C connection that supports alternate mode so I can essentially connect my laptop to this monitor with a single cable. That Type-C port also has 18W power delivery so I can easily fast-charge my phone too!

The biggest drawback for gamers when it comes to buying an OLED has been burn-in. I think on this generation of OLED panels most companies have figured it out and Gigabyte is definitely one of them. For starters this monitor is going to come with a 3-year warranty that covers burn in. On top of that you have their OLED Care suite that has things like pixel shifting, sub-logo dim, corner dim, pixel clean and much more that will keep burn in from happening.

If anything I would have liked to have seen a bit better cable management on the back of the monitor since the connections are on one far side and you have to route them to the center. Also one of the best parts about having software (OSD sidekick) to control the monitor is ease of use, but there are so many settings that just aren’t in OSD sidekick and it does not seem it is updated all that often.

I think that if you are someone like me who wants a “best of both worlds” monitor this is going to be a solid choice not only in terms of productivity but also how beautiful gaming is on the display. Right now you can pick this display up at my favorite online retailer for $899, which I think is a very fair price. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Gigabyte AORUS CO49DQ 49-Inch QD-OLED Gaming Monitor a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
