Drop was one of the first to really popularize the 65% form factor for mechanical keyboards with their original ALT keyboard. This came out all the way back in 2019 when Drop was known as MassDrop. This keyboard was beloved by many, but years later it just seems a bit dated compared to what is currently available. Over this past year Drop has updated all three of their legendary keyboards (ALT, CTRL & SHIFT) with a handful of new features and improvements. These include updated stabilizers, sound dampening, lighting improvements, and new switch options. Today we are checking out the new ALT V2 mechanical keyboard which is a 65% keyboard with Drop’s own Holy X Panda clear switches. Can it live up to the original? Read on as we find out!

The ALT V2 comes in Drop’s typical all-black keyboard retail box. Besides a sticker on the back there is no indication of what keyboard is actually inside.
The unboxing experience is quite pleasant opening up to find the keyboard and accessories inside nicely protected.
Getting everything out of the box we have the ALT V2 keyboard, a USB-A to USB-C cable, a keycap puller, switch puller, a set of magnetic feet, and a user’s guide.
