Nikon COOLPIX S570 Overview
As I said the COOLPIX S570 is a compact digital camera and is about the size of most compacts you will find out there. The official dimensions are 2.2” (H) x 3.6” (W) x 0.8” (D). When you pick the camera up it feels very solid, this is because Nikon uses an all metal design. We received the black version of the S570 but it also comes in blue, red and pink.
Starting at the top of the camera you have the on / off button and the shoot button. Around the shoot button is a circular slider that allows you to easily zoom in and out. Moving down to the back of the camera there is a small speaker, 4 small buttons and one large one. Starting at the top you have a scene selection button, a play button, menu button and a trash button. In between those 4 buttons is a controller which allows you to easily go through menus and select different items.
The large 2.7-inch LCD covers the rest of the back of the camera. This is a high resolution LCD that has an anti-glare coating and you are able to adjust the brightness on it. On the side of the camera is a small section that sticks out. Here you are able to install the included lanyard. There is also a small compartment that houses the AV connection.
On the bottom of the camera is a mount for a tripod and the battery and SD card compartment. This compartment is locked with a small slider. The compartment does not auto-lock when you close it, which I did not like. Each time you close it you need to push the slider over to lock it.
The lens on this camera is a Nikkor 5x optical wide angle zoom glass lens. I’m actually a huge fan of wide angle lens’s so its a plus that this camera has one.
