Final Thoughts
To be honest most of these portable drives perform about the same, so it really comes down to design and features when choosing one. The Transporter from Patriot is one of the thinnest drives that I’ve seen. This allows you to easily throw it in your pocket without being bulky or even fit nicely into a laptop sleeve. The casing is also made of metal, which is nice to see.
Performance-wise this drive performs right up to its specifications of 1000 MB/s, which means this drive is going to be great for a mobile game drive, editing drive, or just a super-fast drive for transferring data. It is also nice that the included cable has a Type-A adapter so no matter what type of system you are using this drive on you are covered.
When it comes to pricing you can find the 2TB version of the drive that we reviewed today on Amazon for $134.99, which does put it in-line with other USB 3.2 gen 2 drives out there. It is worth noting that you could spend another $30 and get a USB 3.2 gen 2×2 drive for twice the performance. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Patriot Transporter Portable Solid State Drive a 9 out of 10 score!
Pros:
– Super slim
– Available up to 4TB
– Great speeds
– Cable includes Type-A adapter
Cons:
– USB 3.2 gen 2×2 drives are faster for not much more
