The last time we took a look at a microphone from HyperX, it was the updated QuadCast S, a somewhat flashy looking audio device. This time around, we are taking a look at the SoloCast, a toned-down, yet feature-rich microphone that HyperX touts as being for “video editors, streamers, and gamers” alike. Can this pint-sized microphone meet your needs for an upgraded microphone? Read on to find out!
Special thanks to HyperX for providing us with the SoloCast review sample!

Packaging
Just like its predecessors, the SoloCast comes packaged in a white and red-themed retail box that shows off the on the front cover. HyperX also lists a few of the more prominent features of the microphone, as well as the compatibility with not just PCs, but PS4 and Mac devices, though the microphone is also compatible with the PS5. The back of the box provides a few additional features in various languages, each highlighted by a call-out image that shows where each of the features is located on the microphone itself.
The image on the back of the box also shows the ability for the microphone to rotate on the stand, but more on that later.
Accessories
Included with the SoloCast is a lone, 2m long USB-C to USB-A cable. Unfortunately this cable is a full meter shorter than the one included with the QuadCast microphones, which somewhat restricts your placement options. This mostly comes into play if you choose to mount the SoloCast on a microphone arm, as much of the cable length will be consumed via the arm. HyperX also chose to skip the braided cable with the SoloCast, opting for a standard USB cable. Also included is a standard quick start guide.
