Productivity, Gaming & Media
One of the main reasons I wanted to move from a 34-inch ultrawide to a 49-inch ultrawide was more screen real estate. With the Viotek SUW49DA you are getting a resolution of 5120 x 1440. Now you could easily do two 2560 x 1440 windows by simply splitting the monitor in half. Many people would prefer this and with Windows snapping it makes this very easy. But for me I was already doing two windows on my 34-inch so I wanted to go for three windows. Splitting the monitor into three windows each is 1706 x 1440, which is still large enough where you don’t feel like you are working in a small window. I would suggest using an app like DisplayFusion to split your display as Windows snapping will not work. Overall it feels like I am using three monitors without bezels of course. It makes being productive extremely easy and I am able to look at more at once.
When it comes to gaming I would say there are two ways to game on the Viotek SUW49DA. The first is in full 5120 x 1440 32:9 glory! This is good for slower-paced games or wide open-world games. Gaming on this large of a screen does mean you’ll have to move your head around a little to see everything. I played Cyberpunk 2077 for quite a while on this monitor and it was such a good experience. The large monitor size along with the 1800R curve really makes you feel immersed in your game.
The other way to game is what I would suggest for more fast-paced FPS games. It would be to play either windowed or borderless-windowed in the center of the screen. This will give you a 2560 x 1440 (1440p) window with room on the sides to put a stream, tutorial, or anything else really. This is primarily how I play Apex Legends. With the window centered on the display you really don’t get distracted by what you have on the sides either.
Watching media on the Viotek SUW49DA is also very enjoyable, that is if you can find good 32:9 content. The 32:9 aspect ratio really makes you feel like you are immersed in whatever you are watching. I really like this as many times I want to take a break from work and it is nice to throw on a movie and sort of zone out.
