Setting up the Phantom 81 V2
Getting the Phantom 81 V2 up and running is really easy. If you plan to use it wirelessly you are going to want to make sure that it is charged up. You can of course charge it via the included USB-C cable. Also if you press FN + Backspace it will show a live readout of the charging level on the LEDs on the keyboard which is pretty cool!
The included 2.4 GHz dongle is pre-paired to the keyboard so all you have to do is plug it into an open USB port on your PC and you’ll be good to go. I did not have any issues getting the Phantom 81 V2 up and running.
Software
KiiBOOM does offer software for the Phantom 81 V2. You can download it directly from their website. When you first open the software up you are brought to the “Main” tab where you can fully reprogram the keyboard.
The next tab is “FnSetting” which allows you to set an alternate function for the keys when you hold the FN key down on the keyboard.
There is also a full Macro editor, which makes it really easy to save and create macros.
The “Light” tab is next where you can customize the RGB lighting. There are many different effects to choose from.
Finally there is a “Share” tab where you can download different lighting settings from the community, which is pretty cool!
