Final Thoughts
The Crucial Pro Overclocking Edition modules are for sure a nice upgrade over the JEDEC DDR5 kits that we initially saw from Crucial. Even better is that you can now get them in white to match all of the other white components out there. As far as design goes I am actually a really big fan of the sleek and sophisticated heatspreader that Crucial is making us of. And for non-RGB modules they are really clean. I was a bit disappointed that they are designed so the sticker side shows out instead of the larger Crucial logo on the opposite side of the modules.
When it comes to performance this kit does well at its advertised speeds of 6000 MHz with timings of 36-38-38-80 at 1.35V. With both XMP and EXPO profiles you shouldn’t have any issue getting this kit up and running on either an Intel or AMD system. When you hear the name “Overclocking” in any product name, especially when it comes to memory you would expect to be able to push it pretty far. While we were able to get an extra 400 MHz out of the kit, this is pretty standard really, nothing to really write home about.
I think that Crucial has a bit of a marketing issue. While in their marketing materials they say this memory is for overclockers, is it really? I mean the thinner heatspreaders are really going to inhibit your ability to push these modules far at all. We were only able to get this kit up to 6400 MHz and we had to up the voltage all the way up to 1.45V. On top of that the fastest kit you can currently get is only 6000 MHz.
The 32GB kit we reviewed today is selling for $109.99 at our favorite online retailer, which puts it very much in-line with other similarly spec’d kits. You could spend about $10 more and get RGB modules from the likes of Corsair or G.SKILL. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Crucial Pro Overclocking Edition DDR5-6000 32GB Memory Kit an 8 out of 10 score.
