Final Thoughts
The AOC C32G2ZE does check many boxes when it comes a high refresh rate gaming monitor. You have a 240 Hz refresh rate, 0.5ms response time (MPRT), support for both FreeSync, and G-SYNC, as well as a 1500R curve. In testing the monitor preformed quite well, playing games at 240 Hz is excellent and if you are moving up from a lower refresh rate monitor you are definitely going to notice a difference. As I mentioned on the previous page though I did encounter some ghosting with this monitor. While not as noticeable in other titles it was pretty noticeable in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, so be sure to keep that in mind. This is because AOC is using a VA panel over a TN panel. The VA panel does give you better colors over a TN panel which are typically very dull.
I think the size of this display is really the interesting part. Being that this is a 32-inch display with the 1500R curve if you are sitting directly in front of it you’ll be fully immersed in your game and the screen will feel “big” overall. The downside of the larger screen size is the resolution, which is only 1080p (1920 x 1080). While this lower resolution will allow you to hit 240 FPS with a larger variety of graphics cards, it makes using the display for anything else a little annoying. First multi-tasking takes a back seat as you can’t really have two windows open next to each other without things being crunched a bit. There there is the big thing, which is the actual PPI (Pixels Per Inch) of the display, which is very low at 69.93. Well less pixels per inch on the screen (especially text) appears to be pixelated. Which sort of makes it feel like you have the monitor at the wrong setting or have Windows scaling on, but you don’t. That is why I feel this monitor is really suited more towards console gamers.
As I mentioned earlier in this review this is more or less a no-frills monitor, which again is not a bad thing. So you don’t have any lighting, no USB ports, no headset stand, and even the monitor stand only offers tilt adjustments (no height or swivel). Which if you are not going to be using these things is not a big deal.
I do feel like AOC has done a lot right with this monitor and you should be pretty happy with it overall, but if you are say a more casual gamer I’m not sure I can recommend this monitor as using it not in a gaming setting is not all that great because of the low PPI. For those people I would suggest a 24 or 27-inch 1080P 240 Hz display. Right now this display is selling at our favorite online retailer for $329.99.
