Setup, Software & Lighting on the ROG Delta II
Getting the ROG Delta II setup and working is quite easy. Make sure the headset is charged up and go ahead and plug the wireless dongle into your PC. Windows will automatically recognize it and you’ll see “ROG Delta II (2.4 GHz)” in your audio devices. Select it and you’ll be good to go.
When you power the headset on you’ll notice each ear cup light up with RGB lighting. There is an ROG logo on each ear cup as well as an outline of the sort of triangle shape. This lighting will definitely show if you are on stream so keep that in mind.
Now while the headset will be working if you want to do any customization you’ll need to download the ASUS Armoury Crate software. It does not appear that the lightweight Armoury Crate Gear is available for this headset yet.
Opening up Armoury Crate you’ll see the ROG Delta II listed under your devices. When you select it the first thing you are brought to is the Audio tab. Here you can set your sound optimization settings. This includes an EQ, virtual surround sound, reverb, bass boost, voice clarity, and compressor. There is a drop-down where there are pre-set modes like Communication, FPS, Gaming, Movie, Music, etc.
The next tab is Microphone. Here you can set a noise gate and a “perfect voice” setting. A noise gate is nice so you won’t hear things like typing on say a mechanical keyboard. Perfect voice will boost vocal voice to provide clear communication. I would test these out and see which works best for you.
Under the Settings tab you can see the playback and recording volume, voice prompt language, enable or disable sidetone, and see a list of hotkeys on the headset itself. For lighting settings we have our basic effects that we can set as well as brightness level.
For Power settings we can see the current battery level, set alerts when the battery level gets low, and how long to switch to sleep mode after being idle for. Finally we have firmware settings where we can easily update the firmware.
